Unresolved Grief

Grief is an experience of reaching for someone or something familiar to find that they are no longer there. However, unresolved grief is grief that takes place longer than 6 months and hasn’t been dealt with.

Common symptoms of Grief: *Decreased concentration *numbness *disrupted sleep *roller coaster of emotions

Symptoms of unresolved grief: *Good Memories turn into painful memories *Unwilling to speak about the loss *Fatigue, emptiness *Guilt *Isolation

Grief that is unresolved, typically causes a person to turn to work to keep he/she distracted and or to avoid thinking about the pain. Grief therapy is always available to help one adjust to the loss by using coping skills and or to reduce the guilt a person may be feeling.
